England's
Turin Brakes, a band already much loved by Australian audiences for
their 2001 album "The Optimist" & the recently released
follow-up "Ether Song", made there long awaited first visit
to our shores as guests of the Falls Festival in late December, as well
playing a string of club dates around Australia in early January.
With a sound that is at once melancholy and euphoric; nostalgic and
visionary; grand and intensely personal, Turin Brakes have already received
such plaudits as a Mercury Prize nomination, & nominations for Best
New Band at both the Q Awards & The Brits. As NME once said of their
live show "This is a band who inspire a passionate response. By
the end, even those nattering at the bar seem converted. Go see them
play. Give them the devotion they deserve."
