Australian Tour December 2007
Andrew W.K. brings his very unique one man show tour to Australia in December 2007 performing at Meredith Music Festival as well as his own intimate headline shows. The show is a stream of consciousness one man performance with free form discussion and musical interjections. The line between performer and audience is blurred as we realize, we’re all performing and we’re all in the audience.
Andrew W.K. is unpredictable, unplanned and totally out of control. But at the same time he is inspirational. After conducting free-form lectures at New York University, Carnegie Mellon University, and The Cooper Union School, Andrew developed his own “one man show” further and took it to Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Vancouver and across central Canada. Now he brings it all the way to Australia.
Andrew W.K. is perhaps best known for rock albums such as his breakthrough “I Get Wet” album released in 2001, complete with the iconic cover artwork of Andrew dressed in white with a blood nose.
Whilst Andrew W.K.’s solo show incorporates musical elements, it is not actually a concert. It’s a solo performance and a unique and intimate way to experience the intensity of Andrew W.K.
Andrew makes up every show as he goes along, so the only way to understand it is to come and see it. You’ll have never seen an Andrew W.K. show like this.
In March 2007, Andrew appeared as a guest on the Conan O’Brien T.V. show, for his second sit-down with the host. Andrew talked about his new “motivational performance” style and demonstrated some of these moves with Conan’s help.
Andrew was also the focus of a 2007 New York Times feature article. The piece was published on the front page of the Saturday Arts section and discussed the developments and contradictions in Andrew W.K.’s career as a performer.
2007 was also the first Andrew W.K. solo party tour, in which Andrew drove a Cadillac through the west coast of Canada and the US, all along the way stopping in each town to have a nightly spontaneous party. The “High-Way Party Cruiser Tour” spread the word about Andrew’s ability to creat fun and bring energy where he went. These “happenings” have become unpredictable events.
