BLACK LIPS
Australian Tour December 2007
Strap on your seatbelt, people, for the impending carnival ride that is The Black Lips.
Visiting our shores for the first time to play Meredith Festival, and a bunch of headline dates in Sydney and Melbourne, Atlanta’s favourite, freewheeling sons are about to prove to one and all that their’s is the party to end all parties. Renowned for their delightfully dishevelled live performances and the blazing, sonic glory that is their Southern-fried scuzz, this is an act not to be missed.
Some icing on the proverbial cake…The band will be bringing their spanking new long player ‘Good Bad, Not Evil’ in tow. Released by the undeniably good folk at Etch n Sketch and VICE Records, the album’s a ridiculously fresh, exciting take on the wildest of records from bands like the 1960s Peruvian Punks Los Saicos, the mighty Rolling Stones, 13th Floor Elevators and Cavern-era Beatles.
With its wealth of dirty, psychedelic blues songs and outright pop hits, this is the most out-there, funnest album you’re going to hear all year.
“So raw and scruffy it sounds like these Georgia boys just fell off the truck. They bang on their guitars and sing together, with down-home punk scuzz and disgustingly great ninth-hand rockabilly licks like ‘Dirty Hands.”-ROLLING STONE
“There’s also the urgency, beyond posturing, one hears…, suggesting the Lips only give a fuck about the basics: namely, being in a fuck-all band.” -VILLAGE VOICE
“Their sets are bloodthirsty make-out sessions where no always means yes.” -STOMP AND STAMMER (monthly atlanta music magazine)
“Lips are one of the best live bands in America” – ROLLING STONE
