COCOROSIE
Australian Tour March 2008
An act like no other, sister duo CocoRosie toured alongside Antony and The Johnsons early last year to sold out shows in Sydney and Melbourne including a truly memorable run of performances at the State Theatre as part of the Sydney Festival. March 2008 will see them bring their densely textured, intricate sounds and live blend of cabaret; spliced vocals, instruments and minimal, punctuating electronics back to our shores.
CocoRosie are truly an act that defy categorization – part folk, part opera, part gospel, part blues, part pop, part hip hop, part electronic, all blended together with a healthy dose of fantasy. The duo has an ability to create an alternate reality in just about every song they write. Just one of the reasons they are highly respected by their peers Devendra Banhart, Antony & The Johnsons, Joanna Newsom and Vashti Bunyan, whom they’ve all performed and worked with.
The girls have garnered quite a lot of attention since they released their debut album, ‘La Maison De Mon Reve’ in early 2004. The next chapter was the sensational ‘Noah’s Ark’ a rich tapestry of otherworldly sounds almost like a child’s bedroom come to life. Aided by guest spots from Antony and Devendra Banhart, ‘Noah’s Ark’ cemented the duo’s universal acclaim. Then earlier this year came their 3rd album, ‘The Adventures of Ghosthorse & Stillborn’. A truly a magical masterpiece, ‘The Adventures Of Ghosthorse & Stillborn’ was one of the most intriguing and beautiful albums of 2007.
Get ready to be seduced by the magical universe that the half-Cherokee sisters Casady have become renowned for when Civil Society bring them back to our fair shores for a much anticipated return visit.
