Handsome Tours are pleased to present Fontaines D.C., returning to Australia + New Zealand in 2025 with special guests Wunderhorse.

Irish artists and current kings of the universe Fontaines D.C. today announce their Australian ROMANCE tour. They will play five headline shows and two festivals across the country in February and March 2025.

They begin their Australian romance at Perth Festival in Perth on Thursday 27 February, before moving onto Brisbane where they will play at Riverstage on Saturday 1 March. The band will join the stacked lineup at Yours & Owls Festival in Wollongong on Sunday 2 March before playing Sydney Opera House Forecourt in Sydney on Thursday 6 March. They play the Palace Foreshore in Melbourne on Saturday 8 March and finish their Australian run at Golden Plains Festival in Meredith on Sunday 9 March before skipping over the Tasman to play Spark Arena in Auckland on Wednesday 12 March. 

ROMANCE is Fontaines D.C.s most ambitious, expansive record yet, its 11 tracks constellating ideas that have been percolating among Grian Chatten (vocals), Carlos O’Connell (guitar), Conor Curley (guitar), Conor Deegan (bass), and Tom Coll (drums) since they released Skinty Fia in 2022. The sonic evolution of the band, who bared their teeth in early records with antagonistic punk sensibilities, is an ascent into grungier breaks, dystopian electronica, hip-hop percussion, and dreamy Slowdive-esque textures that may surprise fans. The shoegaze touch points first pressed on Skinty Fia unfold on ROMANCE like a purpling bruise. But any “retro aesthetic”, as Chatten describes it, is left behind. Reflecting on the impending release, Chatten says, “We say things on this record we’ve wanted to say for a long time. I never feel like it’s over, but it’s nice to feel lighter.”
