HOUNDMOUTH
Australian Tour March 2016
In anticipation of the Houndmouth’s first ever shows in Australia, supports have just been announced for their headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney this Easter. Joining Houndmouth in Sydney will be local based solo artist Le Pie. Inspired by the simple brilliance of ’50s and ’60s girl groups, Le Pie, marries the vulnerable and dark with the uplifting and gorgeous.
In Melbourne the main support comes from Krista Polvere. The local alt-country artist has shared the stage both locally and internationally with iconic artists like Steve Earle, Ron Sexsmith and Ryan Adams, with the later once claiming “She is going to be the next big thing”. Opening in Melbourne will be Split Seconds – a favourite for fans of literate indie pop. Long held in a loving gaze, they’ve earned props for their tunes ‘Bed Down’, ‘All You Gotta Do’, ‘Top Floor’ and ‘Halfway There’ (featuring Kathryn Rollins)

Handsome Tours is proud to present the debut Australian performances of Houndmouth. Hailing from the small Indiana city of New Albany, the roots-rock and Americana four-piece will perform intimate headline shows at Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club and Sydney’s Newtown Social Club in anticipation of their appearance at Byron Bay Bluesfest.
The trip to Australia will bask in the glow of the outfit’s recent breakout success in the United States, where their single “Sedona” hit #1 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Charts – topping the likes of Of Monsters And Men, James Bay, George Ezra and Mumford & Sons. The track saw them perform on Conan O’Brien and earn over 2 million views of its official video.
“Sedona” is taken from Houndmouth’s sophomore album, ‘Little Neon Limelight’, released earlier this year on the legendary Rough Trade Records (Warpaint, Alabama Shakes) to rave reviews.
The Guardian ★★★★
“instantly euphoric… classic Americana delivered with raucous spirit”
The Line Of Best Fit
“there’s a triumphantly familial feel to the way they craft their harmonies.”
The Music ★★★★
“This is modern suburban Appalachian music that sounds contemporary, free-wheeling and celebratory”
Recorded by Dave Cobb in Nashville, ‘Little Neon Limelight’ pairs the energy and nerves of raw first takes with the accents and moods of a more contemplative, thoughtful unit. Hearts are broken and friends are exiled, love grows cold and drugs do damage, leaders make mistakes and money turns tricks. Quilted with intricate vocal harmonies and punctuated with thoughtful lyrics, Houndmouth is music best suited to long drives and lone moments of contemplative awakening.
Swiftly signed to Rough Trade in 2012 after the label saw them at only one single gig, the group’s ascent has been one defined by hard work and dedication to their craft. Whether on nationwide treks with Alabama Shakes and Drive-By Truckers; on festivals such as Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo; in cramped clubs and big theaters alike; Houndmouth have earned their reputation as a must-see act. Their hooks, energy and charisma making them feel like a lifelong friend you’d just met.
Don’t miss Houndmouth with special guests in Melbourne and Sydney in March 2016!
