JENNY WILSON
Australian Tour February 2007
From a small southern Swedish village comes pop songstress, Jenny Wilson.
Her debut album, ‘Love and Youth’ is a collection of idiosyncratic pop songs that reveal the work of an artist committed to individualism. Throwing a modern spin on the singer-songwriter genre, Jenny takes inspiration from Kate Bush, Laurie Anderson, Bjork and Missy Elliott, yet sounds like none of the above.
Jenny delivers her nostalgic tales of love and youth in heart-breaking falsetto, with the slightest tinge of a Swedish accent. Combining gentle electro-pop beats, with warm folk sensibilities, Jenny succeeds in making both an uplifting and poignant record.
Championed by electro-pop outfit The Knife, ‘Love and Youth’ was released in Sweden on the band’s own label, Rabid Records. Jenny has also appeared on The Knife’s ‘ Deep Cuts’ , and has fast become a superstar in her homeland.
And now she heads to Australia for the very first time to deliver her theatrical live show in Sydney and Melbourne, with a special appearance at the Perth International Arts Festival.
