KATHLEEN EDWARDES
Australian Tour February 2006
“Charmingly feisty one minute and disarmingly sincere the next, she writes songs that grab you with their hooks and then reveal hidden depths. If you love smart songwriters who can’t easily be pinned down, Kathleen Edwards is after your heart.”
Brett Milano, Boston Phoenix
Canada’s Kathleen Edwards is without a doubt one of the finest and most distinctive singer-songwriters to emerge in recent years, and Australian audiences will have the opportunity to see Kathleen, along with her guitarist Colin Cripps, on her first Australian Tour in February 2006.
Kathleen’s 2003 debut album ‘Failer’ started life as an independent project recorded with friends in the Ottawa music scene, but snowballed into a widely acclaimed record that drew comparisons with Lucinda Williams, saw her play Letterman and Leno and support the likes of The Rolling Stones, AC/DC and Bob Dylan.
‘ Failer ‘ also spawned the song ‘ 6 O’Clock News’ , which saw significant play on Australia ‘s CMC.
‘ Back To Me ‘, her 2005 follow-up, features guest appearances from My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ Benmont Tench, and has lifted the bar once again, nailing an ambitious range of styles and themes, from brash bracingly-delivered self confident country rock to bruised and lilting melodic pop gems.
Now is Australia ‘s chance to experience the wonder that is Kathleen Edwards.
Tickets for Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are on sale on Monday December 12.
“Marry the aching, lovely beauty of Lucinda Williams and the in-the-zone intensity of Neil Young w/ Crazy Horse and you’ll get a feel for the greatness this record reaches for and delivers.”
Bruce Warren, Program Director, WXPN/Philadelphia
