Australian Tour July 2018
Handsome Tours is proud to announce Lord Huron will perform in Sydney and Melbourne, with support from Carla Geneve this July. The LA based band will return to Australia to headline the Factory Theatre in Sydney on Sunday, July 15 and at Melbourne Recital Centre on Wednesday, July 18, before heading to Byron Bay for a special performance at Splendour in The Grass.
Lord Huron was last in Australia for Bluesfest in 2016, and a sold out run of headline dates to support the release of their break out album Strange Trails (2015) which included the hit single ‘The Night We Met‘ as feature in the Netflix show 13 Reasons Why.
Joining Lord Huron for main support at both Sydney and Melbourne shows is 19-year-old Albany-born singer-songwriter Carla Geneve, who 2017 bursting through the WA scene with her unique brand of brutally honest indie/folk and captivating live show, which saw Carla named as Pilerats’ One To Watch in 2018, triple j Unearthed feature artist, winning the inaugural Mojo Rising Band Competition, and taking out the Best Regional Act at the WAM Award.
New record Vide Noir was written and recorded over the past two years at Lord Huron’s Los Angeles studio and informal clubhouse, Whispering Pines, and was mixed by Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips / MGMT). In conjunction with the album announcement, the band released ‘Ancient Names (Part I)’ and ‘Ancient Names (Part II)’, which received critical praise from NPR Music and SPIN who called them, “an eerie, unresolved tale of a crystal ball vision that amplifies the band’s characteristic thematic darkness into distorted garage rock.”
