Matthew Herbert Big Band
Australian Tour January 2009
Cvity Society is proud to announce that the Matthew Herbert Big Band is touring Australia this January.
Matthew Herbert is one of electronic music’s most versatile and prolific figureheads. An electronic innovator, sonic explorer and prolific collaborator, Herbert has released a huge catalogue of critically acclaimed music as well as producing and remixing artists as diverse as Björk, REM, Quincy Jones, John Cale, Yoko Ono, Dizzee Racal and Roisin Murphy, and working with highly regarded original thinkers such as the chef Heston Blumenthal and playwright Caryl Churchill. Herbert has emerged as a unique figure in modern music: a kind of one-man Radiohead, or a Brian Eno for the 21st century.
Matthew Herbert has released a plethora of innovative recordings under his own name as well as Doctor Rockit, Wishmountain, Radio Boy and others. Herbert unlocks rich vaults of unique sound and fascinating rhythm from the most unlikely objects. Samples on his albums have included washing machines, nails hammered into coffins, meteorites and an RAF Tornado bomber.
