Australian Tour April 2008
Presented by Civil Society, triple j and inthemix by arrangement with William Morris Agency and Echo Location
Pendulum formed in their home-town of Perth in 2002, when producers Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen teamed up with acclaimed local DJ Paul ‘Elhornet’ Harding. While their individual formative roots ranged from producing drum & bass, breakbeat and hardcore, to playing in metal and punk bands, their comparable talents proved an unstoppable force when they managed to single-handedly conquer the world of drum & bass in their first 12 months together.
After selling more than 200,000 copies of their debut album ‘Hold Your Colour’, remixing for such respected artists as The Prodigy, being play-listed and featuring regularly on BBC Radio 1, all whilst continuing to tour the world over as DJs…Pendulum decided that was finally time to take things to the next level – performing live. 2006 and most of 2007 saw Pendulum retreat to the depths of the underground to hone and perfect their sound for the live arena. Finding that using purely electronic sounds left something to be desired, they fetched their guitars and worked on perfecting their ultimate sound – an electronic Led Zeppelin, a crunked up Soundgarden, Tool meets Timbaland, combined with the synthetic aggression and sonic purity of the original Pendulum sound.
By the end of 2007 their live show was ready and they undertook a massive live tour of the UK which was completely sold out resulting in a round of extra dates being added.
2008 will see the much anticipated and long awaited debut on Australia’s east coast of Pendulum’s Full Live Band Experience when they come home in April for a series of shows before heading off again to conquer all the major international festivals such as Coachella. They will be playing the Hi-Fi Bar in Melbourne (900 capacity) on Wednesday 16th April and the Metro in Sydney (1,100 capacity) on Thursday 17th April. There will definately only be 1 show in each state!.
The tour is coinciding with the release of their second album ‘In Silico’ in May. ‘In Silico’ is Pendulum’s first album for Warner Bros. Records via the band’s Ear Storm imprint and features the recent Triple J favourite ‘Granite’. A second single, ‘Propane Nightmares’ will be released to coincide with the announcement of their Australian tour.
