SONS & DAUGHTERS
Australian Tour December 2005
Glasgow’s Sons & Daughters are dangerously explosive. Their debut full length, The Repulsion Box was one of the most passionate & enthralling releases of this year. Formed over a love of Johnny Cash records, this Scottish quartet fend off definition with their distinctive mix of rockabilly, folk, American country and punk.
Whilst a dark undercurrent is integral to their songs, Sons & Daughters wrap their sinister lyrics around the catchiest of melodies. Dual vocalists Adele Bethel (ex Arab Strap) and Scott Paterson sing over a relentless rhythm section in heavy Glaswegian accents. The Repulsion Box channels the sounds of Nick Cave, traditional American folk music and Celtic noise. Intense murder ballads are delivered with Bethel’s terrifying howls and squeals, as heard on the first single “Dance Me In”.
Sons & Daughters have developed a reputation for delivering a ferocious live show.
“Trapped in their own intense world, Bethel’s quiff shaking with every shudder of her bare shoulders. Their rhythms slink like rattlesnakes, offering what feels like an illicit thrill.” The Guardian
They head to Australia for the first time this December. Full details below:

“A lean, angular racket, drawing from the tense sound of new wave but adding a grimness and stoicism that gesture back to folk music.” New York Times
