The Bug
Australian Tour January 2009
Civil Society is proud to announce The Bug feat Warrior Queen is coming to Australia for the first time in January 2009.
The Bug AKA Kevin Martin stands in the centre of the UK Dubstep scene. Martin is an artist as diverse as the names he has recorded under. Over the past 2 decades his work as God, Ice, Techno Animal and Razor X productions has shaped the sound of the UK underground. As his latest incarnation The Bug he has produced one of the quintessential albums of the Dubstep genre, London Zoo.
When it comes to making beats, The Bug is as prolific as he is diverse. He runs his own Pathological Records imprint; he’s has collaborated with the likes of El-P, Kevin Shields, Antipop Consortium, Ricky Ranking (Roots Manuva), Flowdan, Spaceape and Killa P; he’s recorded for labels ranging from Rephlex and Hyperdub to Virgin and City Slang; and he’s been asked for remixes by Thom Yorke, Grace Jones and Primal Scream. Steeped in the boombastic rhythms of mirky dubstep, toxic raga and filthy grime, his intense and addictive beats reach past narrow categorisation and bring together influences from dancehall, grime and hip-hop onslaughts.
Since their introduction through Wayne Lonesome on the Razor X Productions project, Warrior Queen plays a vital part of The Bug’s live show and features on his latest Ninja Tune releases. From Kingston, Jamaica, Warrior Queen has also worked with Penthouse Music in Jamaica and UK garage producer Sunship aka Ceri Evans. Joining them are Mark Pritchard, Sub Bass Snarl, Victim, Garage Pressure, MC’s Ozi Batla and Steve Spacek.
